What should be in a minimalist bedroom?

Minimalism is a lifestyle choice that means different things to different people. An austere minimalist might feel that all a bedroom needs is a mattress on the floor.

A moderate minimalist might restrict bedroom furniture and decor to white walls, bare windows, a bed on a simple bed frame dressed with simple bedding, and a nightstand and table lamp or two.

A casual minimalist might consider a bedroom that has more furniture and decor such as area rugs, dressers, window treatments, and wall decor to be minimalist if it has a limited color palette and a focus on the essentials.

Do minimalists use dressers?

It depends on the minimalist. Some minimalists might choose to limit their bedroom furniture to a bed, bedside table, and lamp, storing their clothing in an existing closet. But a dresser can also have a place in a minimalist bedroom with limited closet space. As long as the top doesn’t become a magnet for clutter, a dresser with clean lines can help you keep a minimalist bedroom looking tidy and uncluttered.

How do you make a cluttered room look minimalist?

The only way to make a cluttered room look minimalist is to clear out and/or hide the clutter. Start by clearing the room, then put back the essentials, and donate or find another home for unused or underused items. Find a place for everything in closets, drawers, or a bed frame with built-in storage. Keep your room looking minimalist with regular tidying.
